Thoughts on September 11th 2026 and the Next Few Weeks
I am visiting NYC today, after a week researching ancient cultures and genetics in Japan.
Last night while walking back to my hotel from seeing an incredible performance by Showing Teeth, I thought about the need to visit China soon for a few reasons, one of which is to continue to de-escalate tensions between the US and China related to joint (or at least mutually respectful and peaceful) longterm work on colonization of space. I also thought about my stops for a trip to visit Israel for the first time, which has been long overdue.
But this morning, in thinking about these trips and other travel that it would be good to make happen before the end of the year (another research trip to Japan, and visits to, in no particular order, LA, SF, Rome, London, NYC, and DC), I am realizing that publishing a few writings should happen before these trips.
These include an essay on a longterm geopolitical steadystate framework for countries collaboratively pursuing space colonization, an essay on a design for a new type of space elevator, an essay on my designs for a VII personal computing device, an essay about divorce and genetics, and an essay about corporate and non-corporate structures to enable my work in these areas.
Publishing in each of these areas (and perhaps a few others) before my travel will enable much more productive conversations when visiting these locations.
I say all of this with a full awareness that I am publishing on September 11th 2026, the 25th anniversary of the terrorist attacks in NYC. And I am writing this with, out of the utmost respect for those that lost their lives, an intuition that the true perpetrators of the attacks are still unclear. And that the resounding message after the attacks should be both:
1) that large-scale destruction of a city, including both the people and the infrastructure, should not be an accepted part of our human experience, and
2) that further de-escalation of militaries across the world is needed for attacks on cities to be minimized (since I am confident that it was not only the Saudis involved in the 9/11 destruction)
May all the souls of the fallen from 9/11, and all the wars in response, rest in peace.
